Veniamin Kondratyev met with Sylvie Bermann, French Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation, at the Forum in Sochi

The matters of further collaboration in a number of sectors – from winery to construction of grain transshipment terminals – were on agenda at the bilateral meeting.

The region intends to expand collaboration in health resort and wine production sectors with French entrepreneurs.

– The number of vineyards is growing every year; more than 40% of the Russian wines are produced in Kuban and we intend to increase the export. France is a worldwide known wine-growing region, thus your experience is of interest to us and we are willing to support synergetic projects, - told Veniamin Kondratyev, Governor of Kuban.

In the resort sector France can share best practices in eco-tourism and balneotherapy, - noted the Ambassador.

– As part of my visit, I attended the branch of VATEL Institute in Sochi – this is an international business school of hotel & touristic management. The competence level of students is very high and two of the students received an invitation for internship, - stated Sylvie Bermann.

She also noted that French investors are willing to participate in the construction of a grain terminal across the territory of the region. Veniamin Kondratyev underscored that any company can deal with grain transshipment, however, on a competitive basis.

– We are generating a competitive program for the construction of a grain terminal. Both Russian and foreign companies can participate in it on a parity basis.

In 2018, the turnover between the region and France made around 200 million dollars. Oil & oil products constituted the basis for export, while transportation vehicles, oil seeds and fruit and cereals – for import. The twin-city ties were established between Sochi-Menton, Tuapse-Agen, and Gelendzhik – Angoul.
